2009 AFOEM Demographics Study

Go into the draw for a chance to win one of three copies of J. LaDou's "Current Occupational And Environmental Medicine 4th Ed".

The aim of this study is to provide precise information on the Fellows and Trainees that make up the Faculty. This information will help provide insight into the current state of the Faculty, the future direction and the training needs of the Faculty. The 2009 AFOEM Demographics Study is different from the previous RACP survey, in that we have designed it to focus specifically on the needs of our Faculty’s Fellows and Trainees.

The responses to this study will be anonymous. The results of this study will be presented at the 2009 Annual Scientific Meeting (Wednesday 20, May 2009) and may be partially published on the Faculty website before then.

Fellows and Trainees who complete the 2009 AFOEM Demographics Study will go into a draw for a chance to win one of three copies of Joseph LaDou's "Current Occupational And Environmental Medicine: Fourth Ed" - as long as an 70% response rate has been achieved.

Click here to begin the online questionnaire.

Closing date: Friday 20, March 2009

Volunteers Needed

Saturday 4, April 2009 | Shannon Room, AJC Convention Centre, Royal Randwick Racecourse

The College has again agreed to sponsor a booth at this year's AMA(NSW)/NSW Health Medical Careers Exhibition. The Medical Careers Exhibition is aimed at medical students and junior doctors to provide information on the various training programs and specialties available. This is the fourth year that the AMA(NSW) has held this Exhibition and last year it was attended by around 450 students, doubling the number attending in previous years. The RACP booth was very popular with students requesting information on their career direction as well as what was required in the various aspects of College training. A limited number of copies of the Requirements for Physician and Paediatric Training Handbook were printed from the College website and were extremely popular, both with the trainees and the physicians manning the booth. We are planning to have more promotional information available for this year's Exhibition.

Volunteers are needed to man the booth

New Communications Procedure

Improving the flow of information to Fellows and Trainees is critical to the effective and efficient running of the Faculty. One method of improving the flow of information is to communicate information from committee meetings to faculty membership. At the AFOEM Council meeting of 28 November 2008 it was agreed to communicate information from committees to the faculty. The following procedure outlines what will be communicated, how it will be communicated, and to whom.

All Fellows of the College from the Divisions, Chapters and Faculties are eligibile to apply for a grant.
