AFOEM Training Curriculum 2011 |
 |
If It Ain't Broke, Why Fix It?
AFOEM plans to introduce a new training curriculum in 2011. This will coincide with the introduction of advanced training curricula within other parts of the RACP.
The first draft of the AFOEM Training Curriculum 2011 was prepared and reviewed in mid-2008. The second draft - much revised is now ready for your comment.
The Faculty's training program is not broke, but it needs improvement. To the extent that we could serve our trainees better, our educational plans require remediation and on-going review. Particular changes introduced in the Training Curriculum 2011 are:
- a stage of basic training to ensure development of clinical abilities and professional qualities;
- far more along-the-way appraisals (formative assessment episodes);
- implied need for strong interaction between educational supervisors (mentors) and trainees.
