David Jones Australian Derby Day promises a star-studded crowd, playing host to Sydney’s most glamorous Fashions on the Field competition. With thousands of dollars worth of prizes to be won, judges will be looking for poise, style and glamour on this traditional black-and-white themed race day.

The Winner and Runner Up of each category will have the chance to win thousands of dollars worth of fantastic prizes thanks to our sponsors.

To mark the 150th Anniversary of the AJC Derby, an outdoor Exhibition wall will be displayed over the 3 weeks of Sydney Carnival at Royal Randwick.

Exciting and inspiring stories and images from the past 150 years have been collated for inclusion in the exhibit.

An interesting tale unfolds of one Derby Day racebook that ended up at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean after a visitor to the track sailed with the unsinkable Titanic. Eighty years after the disaster the racebook was discovered in a chest dredged from the wreckage. It survived remarkably considering - see if you can spot it on the wall.
