Dear Member

We have had quite a few phone calls this week with regard to this coming Saturday's racemeeting.   Remember that this meeting has been changed to Rosehill and that is where Sydney racing is on Saturday 22 January, Rosehill and not Royal Randwick as shown in your fixture card.

The next Saturday meeting at Royal Randwick will be on 29 January 2011.

The Tuckometer Report

The series of feature races run by the club over the Summer period continues next Wednesday at Warwick Farm with the 2011 renewal of the Australia Day Cup over 2400 metres. Entries for the event include the Summer Cup runner up Strike One trained by Chris Waller and Agent Bauer from the Gwenda Markwell stable who created a big impression when wining by 6 1/2 Lengths over 2400m at the Kensington track meeting on 5 January.

Gates for the meeting open at 11.30 am with the 1st Race scheduled for 12.40pm and the final race at 4.58 pm.

A sign that the Autumn Carnival is getting closer was the closing of nominations for the Emirates Doncaster Mile last Tuesday. A total of 222 entries were received an increase of 21 from the 2010 figure. 2010 Doncaster winner Rangirangdoo is nominated to try and emulate Pharaoh as the last horse to win "back to back" Doncaster's. Other entries include More Joyous, Anacheeva, Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador and Emirates Stakes winner Wall Street.

Shayne Montgomery - Horses to Follow

Shayne Montgomery - Horses to Follow

I RULE THE WORLD.  This horse was first up from a spell at the recent Warwick Farm midweek meeting on 12/1 over only 1000m when he put the writing on the wall with his closing finish wide out late. Look for him to now be well placed in similar class soon.

MIKIYAMA.  He is a promising stayer who responded to a positive ride when he proved to be too good at Warwick Farm on 12/1 despite racing greenly under pressure. His trainer, Chris Waller is noted for his success within the staying ranks. Mikiyama can go on.

THE WARRIOR WOMAN.  She again wanted to race keenly in transit last Saturday at Rosehill 15/1 but when the pressure was applied she found plenty in the straight on her home track and it should be noted that in the past, she has improved throughout a preparation.

Queensland Flood Victims

Our thoughts are with the people affected by the floods and the subsequent damage to property and worse, loss of life. Participants in the racing industry have always been a generous lot and we ask, if you are in a position to do so, that you donate to these people via the various charities operating.  Smith Family, Salvation Army etc.  Celebrate Australia Day in a positive way by giving to our fellow Australians.
