Emirates Doncaster Day

Derby Day was well attended, a wonderful autumn day, AND Shoot Out which was one of Shayne's Horses to Follow won the Derby!!

The Early Morning Trackwork Session was also well attended and the Members' Cocktail party held on Wednesday was again immensely popular with great food (as always), plenty to drink and a wonderful atmosphere.   Numbers reached capacity and guest numbers were limited as a result.

Remember gentlemen, now that daylight saving is finished, jackets are back on, however, if the temperature is above 24 degrees jackets are optional in Members areas.  Click here for full dress regulations.

Ticketing

You are encouraged to pre-arrange your Members’ area guest tickets to avoid the hassle on race day.

Ticket application forms received within 7 days of the race meetings will need to be collected on the day at the General Office.

Click here to download your ticket application form.

If you are required to visit the General Office on race day to collect tickets please allow extra time as this office will be very busy. We thank you in advance for your patience.

Please also ensure that you have your correct card with you on the day. If you bring the wrong one you will be required to pay course entry which will not be refunded.

Sadly some Members continue to abuse their membership by lending their Member’s Card to others.

The AJC reminds Members that Club Rule 2.8 states that a “Member’s pass is non-transferable and valid for use only by the Member to whom the pass was issued. If a Member allows another person to use that Member’s pass, the Company may confiscate the Member’s pass”.

Similarly, Club Rule 2.9(d) states that "Guest passes are not for transfer other than by a Member to their guest and are not for re-sale".

Shayne Montgomery's Horses to Follow

Shayne Montgomery's Horses to Follow

FLYING SUCCESS shouldn’t take long to atone for her slender defeat last Saturday on her home track, Royal Randwick. After jumping from a very wide barrier she was forced to race on the pace without any peace for the duration. To her credit, she just kept trying. Expect her trainer, Gai Waterhouse to identify a suitable target for her soon

MIC MAC lost his unbeaten status first up when he resumed from his spell at Royal Randwick last Saturday but he refused to give it away cheaply. Luck in running at a crucial stage in the straight may’ve meant the difference between winning and losing on the day but typically, he kept trying all the way to the post.

GOLD WATER was responsible for one of the very best beaten efforts here at headquarters, Royal Randwick, last Saturday. After adopting her usual role of setting the pace, she did absolutely everything but defy the inevitable late challenge that was always going to arrive on a day that was doing nothing to favour leaders.

JESSICABEEL is trained here at Royal Randwick by John O’Shea and her outstanding winning performance last Saturday was one of many highlights on the day. The most pleasing aspect of her effort was the way she went right on with the job in the straight after she was urged to make ground around her rivals well before the home turn.

The Tuckometer Report

Day One of the AJC Autumn Carnival provided plenty of unique highlights with Michelle Payne being the first female rider to win a Group 1 race at Royal Randwick, High Chaparral siring all three placegetters in the David Jones AJC Derby and Late Entry Yosei winning the Inglis Sires Produce Stakes. This means that late entries have won the first two legs of the Two Year Old Triple Crown the Golden Slipper Stakes and Sires Produce Stakes.

This highlight of Day Two will be the 144th running of the Emirates Doncaster Mile. The race will feature the current Queen Of The Turf Typhoon Tracy as she attempts her 6th consecutive win and her first under handicap conditions since winning the 2009 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill. Like all Doncaster Miles it will be no easy task with strong opposition from six time Doncaster winning trainer Gai Waterhouse with Theseo, The Chris Waller stable will launch a three pronged attack headed by top weight for the race Danleigh, Rangirangdoo and 2008 winner Triple Honour. 2009 winner Vision and Power will also take his place in the field alongside last year's runner up Black Piranha, New Zealand visitor Wall Street and Villiers winner Palacio De Cristal . Michelle Payne will also be seeking her second Group 1 win at Randwick on Allez Wonder with whom she combined to win the Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield last year. The field for this year's Doncaster will be lead onto the track by previous winners Pharaoh, Sprint By and Racing To Win.

Two other Group 1 races will also be held on Saturday with the Patinack Farm AJC Oaks featuring the return clash of Faint Perfume and Valdemoro. Faint Perfume has won their last two clashes but the margin has not been greater than a neck on either occasion so we are hoping for another classic finish. The James Boag Galaxy over 1100m has also brought together a quality field of sprinters including last start Group 1 winners Alverta and Rostova, the return to racing of Ortensia, 2008 Galaxy winner Typhoon Zed, and De Lightning Ridge who recently established a new 1000m track record at Randwick.

Support races on Saturday include the Group 3 South Pacific Classic, Japan Racing Association Plate, Keith MacKay Quality and Fernhill Handicap all at Listed level.
