Dear Member

These are exciting times for racing and we hope you will use our Goodwill days to experience the Carnival atmosphere at all four venues as we see our top line horse come out to compete at a super quality race day.

Goodwill days are to allow AJC/STC Members free entry into alternative racecourses and Members' general reserve areas, so that you may experience a super quality race day at each venue to help guide your future membership choices.

The dates for AJC Members are Rosehill Guineas Day on Saturday 26 March at Rosehill Gardens and The Lord Mayors Cup at Canterbury Park on Saturday, 7 May.

This is your chance to be part of all the glamour and excitement of all courses on the Goodwill days, so take advantage of them and enjoy racing at its finest.

The Tuckometer Report

One of the top class performers of Australian racing in recent years Theseo, steps out under race conditions for the first time this preparation on Saturday at Warwick Farm to defend his Chipping Norton Stakes title. The race has drawn together a high class field of entries including Melbourne Cup runner up Maluckyday, Apollo Stakes winner Melito, Caulfield Cup winner Descarado and proven Weight For Age performers Danleigh, Metal Bender and Vision and Power. Victorian trainer Peter Moody always targets feature races and former Macau galloper Luen Yat Forever is his stable representative in the race.

The Group 2 Surround Stakes for Three Year Old Fillies is the 2nd leg of the $1m Patinack Farm bonus series and More Strawberries and Parables are the two headline performers in this race. The Group 3 Liverpool City Cup has attracted 23 nominations including the up and coming Triple Elegance in addition to proven performers Mentality, Ego;s Dare, Triple Honour and News Alert. The winner of the Liverpool City Cup is exempt from a Ballot and Penalty for the Emirates Doncaster Mile. The Listed Wiggle Quality for Mares completes the feature races on the programme and offers opportunities for Owners to improve the ratings of runners prior to the Coolmore Classic.

Day 1 of the Liverpool Festival of racing commences at 12.55pm with the last race at 5.42pm.

Shayne Montgomery - Horses to Follow

Shayne Montgomery - Horses to Follow

PALACIO DE CRISTAL Her latest barrier trial leading into her first up attempt wasn’t impressive but she was impossible to miss at Rosehill last Saturday in a race in which she was totally unsuited. She’s returned very well and she can be expected to continue to be well placed by her Royal Randwick based trainer Graeme Begg.

RETRIEVE He is from the Peter Snowden stable at Warwick Farm and he was resuming from his spell at Rosehill last Saturday over 1400m when he raced up to his now expected high standard. On the day, he found that distance too short for him but he will continue to improve as his distances lengthen.

SATIN SHOES We mentioned this Warwick Farm based filly in our last update and she has since won two races. Unfortunately the odds were short on both occasions and more bad news is that her targets can only become tougher but stick with her anyway. She couldn’t be in better care with Clarry Conners her trainer.

SKILLED He was having his second start back from a spell last weekend at Rosehill after handing in an eye-catching effort first up earlier in February at Royal Randwick. Nothing went right for him in transit second up when he always covered ground but he kept trying in defeat. Look for him to atone shortly.

The Merger

Since the Clubs have merged we are getting a lot of questions about attendance at other ATC racecourses and why all members do not have automatic access to all four venues. The Club promised that no member would be disadvantaged and as we have a number of "dual" members, who have paid a joining fee and annual subscription to both clubs so that they may enjoy these facilities, automatic entry everywhere by everyone would be unfair to these members.

As a result, you and your guest card holder are allowed course entry and may purchase a ticket into the Members' stand including Golden Slipper. On Goodwill Days Members' stand entrance is complimentary, for you and your guest card holder.

The other questiion,"I don't want to go to Rosehill and, when the renewals come around will I have to pay for something I don't want".  It is envisaged that Members will be offered different types of membership from which they can choose. The categories of membership and fees have yet to be determined , however, rest assured that you will not be  expected to pay for something that you do not want.
