Patinack Chipping Norton Day at Warwick Farm - 6 March

This day is an occasion for you to re-acquaint yourselves with Warwick Farm and a celebration for the families of Chipping Norton and Liverpool  – Saturday racing is back at Warwick Farm. It’s been three years since the Patinack Farm Chipping Norton Stakes was run at Warwick Farm and we want to celebrate our return with a day the whole family can enjoy.

Mum and dad can bring a picnic or enjoy a BBQ lunch at one of our raceday BBQ’s, whilst the kids hone their circus skills at the circus workshops or have a go on the bungee trampolines. Of course there will be pony rides, face painting and a cuddly animal farm amongst other things. All the kids activities are free of charge.

For those that want to dress up for a day at the track there are prizes galore for the Fashions On The Field competition. Categories include best dressed male and female and a new kids categories for the under 13’s.

The Jim Beam V8 Super Car will also be on display at Warwick Farm.

All of this is on top of an action packed day of racing with five feature races.

The revamping of Warwick Farm Racecourse has started with the new tie up stalls in the process of being moved from Randwick to Warwick Farm. While there is a lot on the agenda to revamp the racecourse, the feedback from the local community and businesses is very encouraging and they will support us.

When you join us at Warwick Farm on Chipping Norton day make sure you visit the raceday office as there will be a Timeline detailing the Past, the Present and Future of Warwick Farm Racecourse, and have a look at what William Inglis & Son have in mind for their new complex.

The Tuckometer Report

All roads lead to Warwick Farm this Saturday when feature racing returns to the track. The programme is headed by the $300,000 Group 1 Patinack Farm Chipping Norton Stakes the headline race of the day.

There is a strong list of nominations for the race including Rangirangdoo and Daneleigh from the Chris Waller stable who fought out the Apollo Stakes over 1400m at Rosehill a fortnight ago.

Other entries include AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor, 2009 Doncaster Mile winner Vision and Power, Rock Kingdom and Theseo from the Gai Waterhouse stable and Speed Gifted could also return to Sydney if trainer Lee Freedman believes track conditions will be suitable.

There are 10 individual Group 1 winners nominated for the race so it is shaping as one of the best Chipping Norton's in many years.

This year is also the Bicentennial of Liverpool City and the Group 3 Cup over 1300m has also drawn a quality list of entries including 2009 Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner Allez Wonder.

Warwick Farm trainers have a strong hand in this race with the Darley team nominating Drumbeats and Neroli trained by Peter Snowden, Guy Walter has nominated Bernicia also owned by Darley in addition to Twin Wing whilst Mark De Montfort has McClintock in the race.

The winner of both the Patinack Farm Chipping Norton Stakes and Bicentennial Liverpool City Cup are exempt from Ballot and Penalty for the Doncaster Mile.

The Group 2 Surround Stakes for the Three Year Old Fillies is the next step for More Joyous as she heads toward the Emirates Doncaster Mile but she will be opposed by some quality fillies including the locally trained Hurtle Myrtle who was placed behind More Joyous in the Group 1 Flight Stakes last preparation.

The Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes for the Two Year Olds is another step in attempting to qualify for the Golden Slipper and Clarry Conners will attempt to win it for the locals with Georgette Silk. Dangers include Elimbari from the Kris Lees stable and Solar Charged trained by John O'Shea. The last of the feature races the Wiggle Quality for Mares has also drawn together a strong list of nominations as they attempt to improve their chances of obtaining a start in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill on 20 March.

Horses to follow:

Shoot Out has already paid the travelling expenses from Brisbane after winning here at headquarters last month but after a luckless performance against the bias at Rosehill last Saturday, this John Wallace trained three year old looks cherry ripe to add another win to his form card very shortly.

At The Crease is in the expert hands of Graeme Begg and this horse was specked at long odds in the last race at Rosehill last Saturday but unfortunately for all concerned he firstly encounterd a track bias against his racing style then struck severe interfence to put him well out of contention. At The Crease might be a horse to follow from now on.

Zutara looks like one we might be able to crack a good result from. This two year old trained at Tulloch Lodge by Gai Waterhouse caught the eye with a terrific run on a very biased track at Rosehill last Saturday when she performed well above expectations considering how hard it was to make ground on the day.
