Welcome to the Southern Gateway Centre special edition E-newsletter. 

Today Tourism Wollongong celebrates a new era in tourism, after many years of planning the Southern Gateway Centre opened its doors today as the  "shopfront" for the City of Wollongong and will welcome visitors to the South Coast.

Coinciding with the opening of the new Visitor Information Centre is the launch of www.visitwollongong.com.au with more information, interactive maps, hot deals and offers, more promotional opportunities and more visitors.

To further celebrate, the tourism industry has come together in the development of  Wollongong's first "Tourism Passport" with the booklets available for local residents and their visiting family members to take advantage of some great offers.

The Board of Tourism Wollongong encourages you to visit our new Visitor Information Centre, learn about the local Aboriginal community at Jumbulla Aboriginal Discovery Centre, enjoy a snack at Altitude 1148 and take in the magnificent views from the Southern Gateway Centre.

We extend our gratitude to Wollongong City Council, NSW State Government, the Australian Government and others who have made this project possible.

Southern Gateway Centre is NOW OPEN

The Southern Gateway Centre at Bulli Tops is OPEN FOR BUSINESS, with fencing being removed today.

There are still some final touches being made over the coming weeks, we will be celebrating the opening of the Southern Gateway Centre and the new look Tourism Wollongong soon.

As the future of tourism is changing we are conscious of reducing our reliance on printed material and our environmental footprint, we have installed state of the art digital interactive destination management system to assist consumers in searching for their tourism experience.  Digital display systems are located throughout the Visitor Information Centre showcasing images and upcoming events.

Tourism Wollongong’s team of tourism trained professionals are on hand to provide product advice on Wollongong and South Coast.

Sound exciting? It certainly is...

You don't need to wait for our celebration to check out the new innovative Visitor Information Centre though... We are open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm so feel free to pop in and visit anytime and meet our new team.

www.visitwollongong.com.au is our new online "shop front" for the City of Wollongong including destination information on Wollongong and surrounding regions, a general services directory, interactive maps, individual promotional opportunities as well as hot deals and promotional pages, research information and a whole lot more.

Our website integrates with the digital interactive destination management system at the Southern Gateway Centre.

With 76% of travellers using the internet as their main travel information source,  www.visitwollongong.com.au had to be something special and that is certainly what it is. Take some time to navigate the new website, your feedback and comments are welcome.
