Well here we are in April and galloping towards our exciting Tooheys New Royal Randwick 2008 Carnival.  I hope the following will be of use to you in planning your racing. 

Please note that there is no race meeting at Royal Randwick on Anzac Day.

Saturday 26 April 2008 - Emirates Doncaster Day featuring the David Jones Australian Derby - Member guest ticket $125 and a limit of 4.

Wednesday 30 April 2008 - JPMorgan Australian Oaks Day - Member Guest ticket $60 - unlimited.  Free course entry for ladies.

Saturday 3 May 2008 -  Schweppes Sydney Cup Day - Member guest ticket $125 - unlimited.

Birthday tickets MAY NOT be used on these days.

PLEASE check that you have your correct member card well before Carnival, it is not possible for a card to be re-issued when the advice is received the day before a racemeeting.

Tooheys New Royal Randwick Carnival Pack

Two complimentary member tickets for Oaks Day - Wednesday 30 April

Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival - Racing Fraternity Mass - Sunday 13 April

Everyone is welcome to attend the Annual Racing Fraternity Mass which will be held on Sunday 13 April at 11 am, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 4 Roma Avenue Kensington.

The Racing Mass is attended by people of all denominations and by people who are non churched, representing all sections of the racing industry and is offered for the well-being of the racing industry as a whole.

Light refreshments will be served after the Mass. 

Carbine Club Luncheon - 18 April

The Carbine Club of NSW salutes the racing industry by having a lunch on the Friday prior to the running of the Golden Slipper.

This year’s event will be at the Pavilion at Royal Randwick on Friday 18 April commencing 12 noon followed by the Call of the Card for the Slipper.

Members' Cocktail Party - April 23

Join us as we count down the moments to the 2008 Tooheys New Royal Randwick Carnival at this year’s Members' Carnival Cocktail Party  – Wednesday 23 April 2008.

Enjoy an evening with friends to pay tribute to the heritage of Carnival Racing in Sydney and toast some of the great racing champions and upcoming stars of this autumn.

With drinks, delicious canapés and entertainment by the Four Tunes, during the evening the Ambassadors for the 2008 Tooheys New Royal Randwick Carnival will be revealed.

Wm Inglis & Son - Traditional "Easter Sales" - 20 April - 6 May

Intermingled with the business end of the Autumn Racing Carnival is the traditional "Easter Sales" conducted by Australia's leading thoroughbred auctioneers William Inglis & Son.

Just a few minutes from Randwick Racecourse, the famous complex on the corner of Barker and Young St will be a hive of activity from April 20 through to May 6 as close to a quarter of a billion dollars in blue blooded thoroughbreds are traded.

Easter Yearlings will be sold from April 20-22 (Select Session Part I), April 24 (Select Session Part II) and April 27-29 (Classic Session). Broodmares will be sold from May 4 - 6. The yearling select sessions will be televised live on TVN and live stream will be available at www.inglis.com.au.

The world's leading thoroughbred investors will all be present. Gai Waterhouse purchased last year's top price yearling for $3,000,000 while Virage de Fortune achieved an Australasian record price for a broodmare when selling for $3,400,000 to Darley Stud who outbid another international giant Coolmore Stud.

While there are record prices making headlines it should be noted that champions Might And Power and Racing To Win were purchased for just $40,000 from the Easter sales. "Many yearlings are purchased for racing partnerships, so anyone interested in taking a minority stake should follow the sale results on the Inglis website which are hyperlinked to the buyers websites to see if there is an opportunity to join a racing syndicate," said Inglis' Commercial Development Manager Matt Rudolph

Reciprocity

Reciprocal agreements are in place between the AJC, major interstate race clubs and the SGCT. Please be aware that the complimentary ticket offered to members visiting these clubs is for the member's personal use only and is not to be used by anyone other than the member.
