Important Information

The Annual General Meeting of the Australian Jockey Club Limited (AJC) will be held on 27 November 2009 at Royal Randwick.

Members will receive a formal notice of Annual General Meeting shortly which will include the Annual Report and the Board's recommendations on changes to the AJC's Constitution. Members will be entitled to appoint a proxy to attend the meeting on their behalf. Proxy forms will be included with the Notice of Annual General Meeting.

In accordance with the AJC's Constitution, 5 current directors of the Board are required to retire this year and are entitled to stand for re-election. The 5 directors are Richard Kelly, Julia Ritchie, John Ingham, Sharon Skeggs and Tom Ford. All of these directors are standing for re-election. In addition the AJC has received nominations from two additional candidates for election to the AJC Board;  Benedict Chan and  Kenneth Shepherd. There will be 5 board vacancies that the candidates are contesting.

Accordingly, a postal ballot will be conducted for elections in accordance with the AJC Club Rules, and the successful candidates elected will be declared at the Annual General Meeting. Members will be sent their ballot/voting papers in the mail. Members who wish to vote in these elections must ensure that they return their ballot/voting papers to the AJC by 5.00pm 26 November 2009. The AJC will provide members with a reply paid envelope with the ballot papers sent to them, including a confidential "Vote Envelope" to be placed inside the reply paid envelope and returned to the AJC by the due date.

Join us in giving Takeover Target the send-off a true legend deserves.

Takeover Target, owner and trainer Joe Janiak and jockey Jay Ford will kick off a round of national farewells at Royal Randwick on Saturday 7 November.

Takeover Target won his first Metropolitan race at Randwick on 19 May 2004 and during his career gave great joy to Randwick racegoers with his win in this year's Group 1 T J Smith Stakes and was also the star attraction when racing returned to Randwick on 1 December 2007 following the cessation of racing during the Equine Influenza outbreak.

Takeover Target will parade for his adoring fans for the last time at Randwick before a special AJC presentation to the legendary horse, his owner and the jockey.

You could be one of 3 lucky Members to have a professional framed photograph of yourself and a friend alongside Joe Janiak and Takeover Target.

On Saturday 7 November, Members can enter the lucky draw by filling in their details in the Derby Bar or the General Office.

The 3 lucky winners will be announced after the Sixth Race, the exclusive photo opportunity will take place after the Seventh Race.

The Tuckometer Report

At the time of writing, AJC trainers led by the irrepressible Bart Cummings continue to perform well at the Victorian Spring Carnival with wins to Bart with So You Think in the W S Cox Plate and Faint Perfume in the Wakeful Stakes whilst Peter Snowden trained Kidnapped to win the Carbine Club Stakes.
 
The form in the Spring Champion Stakes was also franked in the Victorian Derby with Monaco Consul taking out the double whilst Viking Legend trained by Gai Waterhouse was placed in both events. Good Luck to all for the remaining days of the VRC carnival.

Congratulations to Kevin Moses and the owners of All Legal which won the $100,000 Inglis Bonus Handicap at Randwick on Saturday 17 October.

Changes to Course Access

Pedestrians may now enter the racecourse via Gate 1, Alison Road Main Drive, the new Gate 5, Alison Road/Darley Street Entrance Plaza ( which replaces Gate 6,Alison Road, 2000 mtr mark, which is now closed). Gate 19, Carlton Street off Doncaster Ave, and Bowral Lane.  Pedestrians are not permitted entry through any other gate.

Dress Regulations

Now that Daylight Saving is upon us it is not necessary for
gentlemen to wear jackets in the Members' Stand unless they are attending an official function.

Tie, dress shirt, smart trousers and dress shoes are all that are required. For the ladies, smart racewear. Please girls, NO SHORTS, thongs or abbreviated clothing.

If your clothing is deemed to contravene good taste then you may be refused admission, and no-one wants that to happen. click here for more information regarding dress requirements. 

Goulburn - The Bus is Filling Up

We still have some seats available on the coach for Goulburn on Friday 20 November.

$95 gets you a seat on the coach, entry to the course, a race book and lunch in a marquee with cash bar.

Executive Chef, George Mullen has created a delectable three course lunch and afternoon tea perfectly matched to wines. 

Winemaker Angus Ridley, will be on hand to give an insight into the winery and its history and will guide you through the wines being served throughout the course of the day.
