The Simple Miracle of Follow Through

The Simple Miracle of Follow Through

A few years ago I was attending an American Society of Training and Development mega conference in New Orleans where Dr. Ken Blanchard, author of The One Minute Manager, Situational Leadership and many other learning and development books was presenting.

At that time many learning professionals were under pressure to prove the ROI (Return on Investment) of training. When asked about this, Ken Blanchard responded, “That’s easy, just promise senior management 1000% ROI on all training.” When the somewhat bemused questioner pursued Dr. Blanchard with, “How can we prove that?” Blanchard drove his point home by saying, “That’s easy too because nobody ever follows-up on anything, least of all senior managers!”

Glib and simplistic? Yes. Fundamentally true? Absolutely!

There is something in human nature that makes follow-through an enormous challenge. It may have something to do with the idea that the event is over and done with and we are programmed to focus on the future. Whatever the cause, the effect is unfulfilled potential and many incomplete opportunities.  For the rest of this article click here >>>

Corporate Support for Training in Volunteer Organisations

Corporate Support for Training in Volunteer Organisations

The CTT Group is a very proud supporter of Community Organisations. This support is not just financial but supports their training and education programs.

Currently we are actively involved with the Ben Mikic Foundation for Young Cyclists. This Foundation is dedicated to the Education, Awareness and Safety of Young Cyclists.  It was founded following the tragic death Ben Mikic.

On April 27th 2007, Ben Mikic, a talented 15 year old racing cyclist from Mittagong, NSW, was tragically killed in a collision with a car during a training ride. Ben had proved himself as a gifted athlete in Road, Track and Mountain Bike Racing.

The Ben Mikic Foundation is body of passionate volunteers dedicated to trying to minimise the incidents of cyclists deaths on our roads.  The BMF organisation is designing education programs being piloted with a local primary school and is partnering with The Outdoor Education Group OEG to bring Mountain Bike Training Programs to young cyclists encouraging them to train off the roads.

A range of Reflective products to encourage visibility on the roads is also being championed.  The CTT Group is proud to be involved with organisaitons such as BMF.
