From the manager's desk..

Between the dust storms and the gale force winds, it’s been a pretty exciting time here in Wollongong this past month, with the official opening of the Southern Gateway Centre on September 21, Tourism Wollongong networking function on September 24 and the launch of The Wollongong 'Tourism Passport', there was barely time to notice the strange weather!

I would like to welcome onboard all new Tourism Partners and thank our existing Partners who continue to support us in destination marketing. We are looking forward to working together to increase visitation and recognition of this beautiful region.

The days are getting longer and Daylight Saving is nearly upon us. Don’t forget to wind the clocks forward an hour on Sunday October 4!

Until next month
Greg Binskin
General Manager

Networking at the Southern Gateway Centre

Networking at the Southern Gateway Centre

Tourism Wollongong celebrated a new era in Tourism with Wollongong City Council officially opening the Southern Gateway Centre . After many years in the planning this state of the art centre has become the “shopfront” for the City of Wollongong and beyond. What a fantastic way to welcome visitors to the South Coast and to be able to comprehensively inform them of the numerous experiences on offer.

It was wonderful to see over 80 of our Tourism Partners turn out to experience first hand the Southern Gateway Centre at our networking function on September 24. It was a keen reminder of the strength our local tourism industry enjoys.

Remember, by working together we get results!

Small Business Workshop

Small Business Workshop

In conjunction with Industry and Investment NSW, South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation hosted a Small Business workshop on Tuesday September 8, 2009 at Medina Executive Apartments.

Designed to assist small businesses with tools to communicate to their customers, the workshop was very informative and the interactive delivery made it a valuable day for all involved.

We will be looking at hosting similar workshops in the future so keep an eye out for more information on upcoming events.
