From the manager's desk |
Welcome to 2008!
Tourism Wollongong has plenty of plans and goals for the New Year, such as the development of the Southern Gateway Centre and the opening of several hotels throughout the city, and we intend to bring them to fruition! We want to see Wollongong firmly implanted on the tourism map, with Grand Pacific Drive recognised widely as one of the greatest coastal drives in the world. As such, the Tourism Wollongong team has a busy year planned and we’re looking forward to getting stuck into it.
Meanwhile, we wish you and your family an enjoyable holiday season and look forward to working with you in 2008.
Until next month,
Greg Binskin
General Manager

New Year’s Eve may have come and gone, but the party isn’t over just yet.
Two major events are set to follow the successful annual New Year’s fEVEr celebrations, with Australia Day and the Illawarra Folk Festival being held later this month.
The Australia Day party will be presented by Wollongong City Council on January 26, with several highlight throughout the day including the annual Australia Day Aquathon at Belmore Basin and the fireworks spectacular. For more information visit website.
The 23rd Illawarra Folk Festival to be held at Bulli Showground from January 17-20. More than 150 events and 400 performances will be held during the festival. The performers will create what is probably the best folk line-up to ever appear in the Illawarra. For more information, visit website.

Ivory Christmas Party success |
Thank you to all who helped mark the end of another year at our annual Christmas Party on December 18!
Held at Ivory on Crown St, Wollongong (to whom we also extend our thanks for hosting such a fabulous party), the function not only helped us celebrate another successful year but also provided networking opportunities for all who attended.

Hot new ride sizzles at Jamberoo this summer |
Jamberoo Action Park has undergone some massive changes during the cooler months and is all set to welcome the summer crowds.
The highlight of course, is the new ride, The Taipan. Jamberoo’s most fearsome ride yet, the Taipan consists of a series of five-person rafts which travel down one of two giant waterslides - all in darkness! Passengers don't see the drops, twists and turns, so it’s heart-stopping stuff.
With summer in full swing, a day with the family at Jamberoo is a must. For more information about the park, visit the website.
