Come and celebrate Gai's birthday, September 2

The Australian Jockey Club takes pleasure in inviting you to celebrate the birthday of Australia’s first lady of racing,
Gai Waterhouse on Wednesday, September 2nd 2009 at Royal Randwick.

All AJC Members wearing hats who attend on Wednesday, September 2nd will gain entry to the special birthday morning tea with entertainment organised. Your hat will entitle you to a glass of complimentary Australian sparkling wine and birthday cake with the first lady of racing. You will also be invited to view a hat parade, judged by Gai Waterhouse, S Fashion Editor Kate Waterhouse and leading Australian milliner Nerida Winter.

In addition to this, you will also have the rare opportunity to sneak a glimpse of some of this season’s racing stars on parade in the Mounting Yard enclosure, including Tuesday Joy and Manhattan Rain.

The line up of trackside activities includes:
12pm – 1pm: Morning tea with Gai Waterhouse on the Members’ Lawn (or in the case of wet weather - the Doncaster Room). AJC members wearing hats are invited to enjoy a complimentary glass of Australian sparkling wine and birthday cake between races 1 and 2; Gai’s hat parade judged by Gai Waterhouse, Kate Waterhouse and Nerida Winter. Between races 3 and 4: A parade of Spring Racing’s new stars in the Mounting Yard enclosure

Special guests at the event will be Sydney Roosters and Sydney Swans players!

GO Research Fund luncheon at Royal Randwick, September 2

Help save lives and raise much needed funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research of the Gynaecological Cancer Centre at the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick.
Plus the opportunity to meet Sydney’s premier horse trainer Gai Waterhouse in the Committee Room with luncheon and matching wines on Wednesday 2 September 2009.

Ticket price: $200 per person ($2,000 private tables of 10)

Next Members Information Meeting September 5

A Members Quarterly Information Meeting will be held on Saturday 5 September 2009 (prior to the races). This is an opportunity for members to discuss issues with your Board members.

Where: Derby Room, Royal Randwick
Time: 10.30am

A complimentary morning tea will be served from 10.30am
Gates to the racecourse will be open for Members wishing to attend this meeting from 10.00am. The courtesy Buggy will be operating from this time.
 

Romancing at Royal Randwick, September 5

Spring is upon us and love is in the air.

On September 5 Royal Randwick will host the Romancing at Royal Randwick race day. A great opportunity to dress up and spend a day at the glorious Randwick Racetrack – and potentially find the man or woman of your dreams.
This inaugural event is set to get hearts racing with great entertainment around the course such as The Fringe Bar DJ, clairvoyants and the RSVP Hottest Tradies, not to mention an action packed day of racing including the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes and Furious Stakes.

Celebrity Chef Ladies Lunch, George Main Stakes Day September 26

Royal Randwick, in conjunction with Sydney Children’s Hospital, are hosting a fabulous Celebrity Chef Lunch on Ladies Day, the first day of Spring Carnival. The aim of the afternoon is to raise more than $35,000 to purchase vital equipment and services for the Hospital.
At an exclusive trackside location you will be charmed by MC Adam Williams and enjoy a three course lunch designed by the Sydney Morning Herald 2009 Chef of the Year, Justin North of Bécasse and Etch.
