August 2007

Dear

Lots of interesting "happenings" this month, a Committee election, information about up and coming Member Events and general information.

Importantly yearly subscriptions are now overdue. If you haven't paid your subscription, and wish to do so click here. 2006/7 cards are no longer valid and if you present the incorrect card at the gate you will be expected to pay course entry and this amount will not be refunded.

Committee Vacancies and Elections

Bi-Election

Nominations have been called to fill a vacancy, made available by the retirement of Mick Doyle from Committee.  Nominations for this position closed on Monday 16 July 2007 and the candidates are:

Bob Guth - nominated by Nick Curtis and John Muir

Graham  Morcom - nominated by Mick Doyle and Geoff White

Scott Heathwood - nominated by Bob Sanders and Stephen Ware

Voting papers have been dispatched to all members.

General Election

On Friday 3 August, the following advertisement appeared in the Public Notices Section of the Sydney Morning Herald

"Notice to all members of the Australian Jockey Club

All persons wishing to nominate for election to Committee must lodge nominations with the Acting Chief Executive on or before 4.00 pm 24 August 2007."

This is in accordance with Constitutional Rule 58 which reads

"Every member of the Committee shall, if he is then still in office, retire from office when the election of the new Committee is announced at the Annual General Meeting next succeeding that at which he was deemed to be elected but shall be eligible for re-election without nomination".
