Australia Day | eNewsletter

Australia Day 2010 was a hub of activity with over 5,000 events attracting over 2 million people participating in celebrations across the state.

Over 160 Australia Day Ambassadors visited celebrations throughout New South Wales that celebrated Australia Day with awe-inspiring fun and flair.

The Hon. Michael Egan, Australia Day Council of NSW Chairman, was thrilled with the huge range of celebrations around the state and show of support this year for Australia Day. “Australia Day is a day to come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about being Australian. It’s also the perfect occasion to officially welcome our new citizens,” Egan said.

This year the Oz Day 10K was won by our very own Kury Fearnley for the 6th consecutive time in a time of 21min 13sec. The Open Women's was won by Edith Hunkeler  from Switzerland in a time of 24min 26sec.

The ANZ Ferry took out line honours in this year's Ferrython. While, Young Endeavour won the Tall Ships Race. The Best Dressed Vessel this year was Requiem Blanc.

Congratulations to Barry and Joanne from Blacktown and Norma and Ken from Padstow Heights who won the Hereford Prime Country Getaway competition.
