AJC Committee Election Results


Following a general election of the committee Tuesday 2 October 2007, the Australian Jockey Club (AJC) announced today the following changes to the committee.

Mr Ron Finemore having been successfully elected by the members of the AJC will take his place on the committee as at 4 October 2007. Mr Finemore fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr David Hall.

As a result of the election, the committee today elected the following persons to the executive positions on the committee:

· Mr Ross Smyth-Kirk, Chairman
· Mr John Ingham, Vice Chairman
· Mr Jim Mathers, Honorary Treasurer

The full committee of the AJC is now:

· Mr Ross Smyth-Kirk, Chairman
· Mr John Ingham, Vice Chairman
· Mr Jim Mathers, Honorary Treasurer
· Ms Julia Ritchie
· Mr Richard Kelly
· Mr Tom Ford
· Mr Peter Falk
· Ms Sharon Skeggs

· Mr Ron Finemore

Mr Finemore AO has over 40 years business experience with Finemores, a transport and logistics company with annual turnover of $400 million and 2500 staff. Mr Finemore has also served as the Chairman of the Australian Trucking Association and Deputy Chairman of the Australian Transport Council. He has extensive interests in horseracing with 12 horses currently in training including Husson Lightning.

On Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 6 November 2007, experience all the glamour and atmosphere of being trackside – giant screens, betting with the bookmakers and TAB, Fashions on the Field, Pamper Palace, full coverage of the Melbourne Cup on over 750 television screens – it is all here and better than anything else to be found in Sydney.

Bring your friends and colleagues and be a part of the action at Sydney’s biggest party.

Course admission $15 and Members' Guest tickets are $30 and unlimited.

Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival


For those of you going to Melbourne for your racing "fix", remember the following

Caulfield Cup - 20 October.  On presentation of your AJC Membership card and photo Id you will be given one complimentary ticket and may purchase one for a guest.  Course entry for everyone $50 and $120 for the guest card.

Cox Plate - 27 October. For ticketing contact the Membership Department of Moonee Valley Racing Club on 03 9373 2222 and they will send you an application form.  The entitlement is one complimentary ticket and you may purchase one for a guest. Course entry for everyone $45 and $150 for the guest card.

Melbourne Cup Carnival - Tickets must be paid for and must be applied for on the form sent to you with your subscription.  If you want another form please contact this office. All tickets are pre-purchased and you are NOT able to purchase tickets on the raceday.


Members' Lounge


As advised earlier you are invited to attend an exclusive Members’ Lounge which is situated in the new Owners' Lounge located on the ground floor of the Officials Stand (the old Winning Post Bar) to mix with fellow members and try your luck at the betting auditorium.

This Members’ Lounge will be open every Saturday during October and November with free entry available for members and annual guest pass holders.

Dress is smart casual – you do not need to wear a jacket or tie.

The Lounge will open half an hour before the first Eastern states race and close half an hour after the last Eastern states race. A bookmaker and TAB hostess will be available for you to bet on the interstate races. A cash bar and light food menu will be on offer.
