Col Tuck's Racing Review

The feature sprint in Sydney during Winter the June Stakes is the headline race at Randwick this Saturday which coincides with the Stradbroke meeting in Queensland. Royal Discretion from the John McNair stable heads the field which also includes Montana Flyer, Ladys Angel and Skytrain. There is a strong support card for the meeting which commences at 12.10pm with final race at 4.29 pm.

There will also be a meeting on Monday to coincide with the Public Holiday. The Jim Bell Country Cup will be decided on the day and the race honours a former Chairman of the AJC who gave generously of his time to foster racing in regional areas. Due to the division of the Two Year Old race on Monday there will now be 9 races commencing at 11.45 am.

Shayne Montgomery - Horses to Follow

ESSENCE OF SUCCESS She is a lightly raced four year old mare trained at Royal Randwick. She drew the invaluable inside barrier at Canterbury last Wednesday when she was taken straight to the front by Nash Rawiller on settling down. After travelling kindly throughout, she always travelled like a winner, especially as her main danger, Valhussle became trapped wide in transit. Saturday class now awaits Essence Of Success.

VALHUSSLE This mare was courageous in defeat behind the heavily backed and abovementioned Essence Of Success at Canterbury last Wednesday. After starting from an awkward barrier, Valhussle raced wide and faced the breeze all of the way but to her credit, she kept trying in the straight. Rosehill trainer Chris Waller has never had this mare racing more consistently. Look for her in another race against her own sex soon.

RECORRIDO is a four year old mare who is trained at Warwick Farm by Joe Pride. She had more than enough chances to break through for her first success in Victoria without a result but the switch to Sydney has seemingly created a different mare. She was most impressive over 1250m at the midweek Canterbury fixture held last Wednesday and we can expect her to again be well placed again shortly. A slight distance rise can be handled successfully.

Darwin Turf Club

The Darwin Turf Club is pleased to offer reciprocal privileges to ATC Members during the 2011 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival.

Our Carnival is held between 2 July and 1 August 2011 at a time when our southern counterparts deal with the wintery conditions of their home states. The Top End provides such an inviting contrast with it's cool breezes whilst being bathed in the sunshine that only Darwin can offer at this time of year.

ATC Members are invited to complete the reciprocal member ticket application form and return it directly to the Darwin Turf Club in order to receive the reciprocal privileges on offer. It can be completed and returned via email.

Interstate Reciprocal Members must pay racecourse admission and will receive two (2) complimentary access passes to the member facilities for the day. Photo ID and a current member badge must be presented at the Administration Office PRIOR TO Race Days to collect passes.

NOTE: Due to the size of our facilities, on Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Weekend Saturday & Monday races, complimentary member passes will provide access to the Members Lawn area only.
