From the manager's desk...

Things are starting to cool down here in Wollongong weather wise, but as usual there’s plenty to keep us busy and warm here at Tourism Wollongong. The Southern Gateway Centre is due to open this month, and it will be a welcome and prominent addition to our burgeoning tourism industry.

The Grand Pacific Drive flag has been flown at several Trade and Consumer shows to great success, and continues to be an integral way to showcase the region.

And speaking of the region – don’t forget to enter the 2009 South Coast Tourism Awards. If you feel you are contributing to the local tourism industry, let’s hear about it!

Lastly, but most importantly – let’s not forget our mum’s this Mothers Day. Why not take yours out for a nice lunch at one of Wollongong’s many beautiful restaurants on Sunday May 10?

Until next month
Greg Binskin
General Manager

South Coast Tourism Awards

The South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation Inc is pleased to announce that the 2009 South Coast Tourism Awards are now open! The South Coast Tourism Awards recognise and celebrate the diverse range of tourism products on the NSW South Coast. We encourage all operators to enter these awards in order to acknowledge your contribution to the regions' growing tourism industry.

This year, as with last year, the South Coast Tourism Awards will “mirror” the State Awards in their entirety, i.e. the South Coast Awards will have the same categories, same criteria and the same judging system. So don’t delay, get your entries in soon!

Submissions close at 5.00 p.m. on Friday 29 May, 2009. Further information contact Vera Cvetkoski or Kate Chapman.

TA 'No Leave No Life' Tactical Campaign

Tourism Australia’s new domestic tourism program, No Leave No Life, was launched by the Minister for Tourism, the Hon Martin Ferguson AM MP. This campaign aims to encourage Australian workers to unlock some of the 123 million days of stockpiled annual leave and use it to holiday in Australia.

The No Leave, No Life program targets both employers and employees with information to help win the work/life battle and address the workplace issue of annual leave stockpiling.

The booking deadline is Friday May 8, 2009. For further information, please contact Vera Cvetkoski.
