Dear Members,

The NSW Gaming and Racing Minister Kevin Greene announced yesterday that discussions had been held with Racing NSW, AJC and STC Chairmen and Chief Executives in relation to appointing an independent person to undertake a feasibility study on the merits of amalgamating the Australian Jockey Club and the Sydney Turf Club.

We support the exploration of all proposals that will deliver uncompromised benefit to the Clubs and thoroughbred racing in NSW.

The terms of reference of the feasibility study are being determined by the AJC and the STC, so we will ensure the best interests of the Club and its members are upheld at all times.

We look forward to working closely with the Minister, Racing NSW and our colleagues at the STC on the preparation and consideration of the merger feasibility study.

We will continue to inform members on the progress of this proposal and its outcomes.

Sunset Sessions - Friday 6 February

Members wishing to utilise the free guest ticket offer communicated in last weeks Members’ Mail for Friday 6 February will need to present their membership card at the General Office on race day to receive their free Members Guest ticket.

Change to access due to Master Plan Construction

Please be advised that effective immediately, there will be no access for Pedestrians or Vehicles via the Bowral Street Gates due to the area being a Master Plan Construction Zone.

Pedestrian access will be via Gate 19 on Doncaster Avenue or Gate 1 on Alison Road

Save the Dates

Two dates to put in your 2009 social diaries – members wishing to attend the Autumn Cocktail Party, this function will be held on Wednesday 8 April. Tickets are not yet on sale for this event but details will be available to members very soon.

2009 Scone Tour (including Scone Cup) will be going ahead on 14-15 May details of the tour are currently being confirmed and will be communicated to members as soon as they are finalised.

Betting Pavilion - Update on Refurbishment

Members may have noticed that the installation of a new Betting Pavilion ceiling is currently in progress. Please be advised this project is anticipated to be completed by the end of February 2009.

Racing Mass - 29 March 2009

Members are advised the racing Mass will be held on Sunday 29 March 2009 at 11.00am at Our Lady of the Rosary Kensington 4 Roma Avenue Kensington for those that may wish to attend.

Members Dining Room Bookings

Please be advised the Galaxy Dining Room is now fully booked for Saturday 14 February and 14 March 2009. Next two available dates for Birthday voucher redemption at Royal Randwick are Friday 6 February and Saturday 23 May. Birthday lunches can also be booked at Warwick Farm for members attending on Saturday 7 March for the running of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes.
