Citi to Goulburn 2008
The Ben Mikic Foundation is proud to have been invited to participate as a team in the 2008 Goulburn to Citi 2008.
(BMF) is seeking to raise funds through the Goulburn to Citi Charity Ride which is the race before the main competitive event.. Participantion will help expand the Foundations ability to make cycling a great deal safer for young riders and to provide increased support for young cyclists demonstrating high levels of potential in the sport. BMF programs that will be expanded as a result of funds raised through the Charity Ride include:
- Cycle Skills Training Program aimed at primary school students, facilitated by the Education Group (OEG) with a focus on safe riding practices and conditions
- Mountain Bike Training Programs facilitated by The Outdoor Education Group, to encourage young rdiers to experience off road cycling.
- Sponsorship of the Illawarra Academy of Sport’s elite young cyclist training program.
- Individual sponsorship of young cyclists embarking on important national and international events i.e. recently Charlton Durie and Shaun O’Connor
- Liasion with cycling industry and government bodies to – escalate road safety awareness for all road users; accelerate the building of cycle lanes; rider friendly infrastructure on main roads; lobby government to increase investment in road sharing awareness campaigns ie cyclists are tax payers too !

Dinner Dance 6 September 2007
A Fund Raising Dinner Dance is being hosted at the Highland Golf Club organised by the Friends of BMF on September 6, 2008 at 7.30 pm. To purchase tickets please contact Whytes Clothing Shop in Mittagong, Contours Gymnasium in Bowral and Forbes in Mittagong or call 02 4878 5184 or email
The proceeds will be used to continue the safety + education + awareness work of the Foundation.

Mountain Bike Training Skills Program September 29 & 30
Places are already filling very quickly with most of the previous participants from the April Program registering. Read their experiences online. It will be held once again at Biloela, near Berrima, NSW.
This program has been expanded to include three levels. These levels are:
Level 1
Little or no MTB or off road experience. A general level of fitness is required.
Objective
To provide confidence to pursue further off road riding through the acquisition of good skills set.
Level 2
Some MTB and/or off road experience. Good level of fitness
Objective
To build confidence, introduce hard skills and develop interest in off road racing.
Level 3
Advance Group of MTB with experience that includes off road technically sound hard skills and/or has done off road racing. A high level of fitness required.
Objective
To further enhance skills set and encourage more advanced off road racing and competition.
Joint Gear Sets
There will be joint sessions run with mentors, MTB experienced cylists

Bang the Table
Wingecarribee Shire Council has developed a draft Bicycle Strategy. The draft identifies existing and proposed key bicycle routes for Moss Vale, Bowral and Mittagong with an annual action plan to implement upgrades and construct new bicycle routes.
We need your feedback to let Council know if we've got it right. Have your say here online or write to Council by 13 August 2008.
