Winter Racing at Royal Randwick
Winter is here with a vengeance, but there is no need to sit in front of the television and heater, get yourself down to the track, nothing gives you a warm fuzzy glow like a winner or two.
Another nice thing to do in winter is to use your birthday luncheon voucher. The next available dates for their use are:
Saturday 24 July
Saturday 7 August
Saturday 4 September
Remember bookings are essential.

Judgment in Betfair and Sportsbet Matters
|
Justice Perram delivered judgment in the Federal Court challenges by Betfair and Sportsbet and found that the Race Fields Legislation and Regulations are valid.
His Honour found that Betfair had not proved its case in that its arguments as to why the Race Fields Fee was invalid were not correct.
In the case of Sportsbet, Justice Perram accepted that overcoming the issue of ‘free riders’ on the NSW thoroughbred racing industry was a legitimate object. However, his Honour
ruled that the way the Race Fields Fee was applied was invalid.
The reasons his Honour found in favour of Sportsbet included his interpretation of a commercial settlement of a dispute with Tabcorp and his view that a $5million fee free threshold imposed by Racing
NSW was intended to protect New South Wales bookmakers.
Whilst Racing NSW does not accept these findings, one immediate consequence of the judgment is the removal of the existing $5million fee free threshold and all wagering operators (including Sportsbet
and other corporate bookmakers) will now be required to pay more.
Racing NSW takes issue with a number of the findings of Justice Perram in the Sportsbet judgment and is taking advice on its rights to appeal.
In respect of the considerable Race Fields Fees collected to date, Racing NSW is exploring all available avenues to retain and distribute that essential funding to the
thoroughbred horse racing industry in New South Wales.
For more information please contact Mr Peter V’landys, Racing NSW Chief Executive by phone on (02) 9551 7556.

Shayne Montgomery's Horses to Follow
|

AS DIFFERENT AS.
This filly is trained by Chris Waller and she would appear to have a hoof placed firmly on the till. She finished her race off strongly here at headquarters on the holiday Monday when she did a terrific job to recover from a poor start. She is only at this stage lightly raced but she clearly has a bright future and we can look for her shortly in a race at 1800m or beyond.
LOVE CONQUERS ALL. We have been treated to two excellent performances here at headquarters from Love Conquers All since resuming from a spell in late May. First up, the result was never in doubt but at the most recent second up engagement, the danger signs appeared near the 200m mark when the eventual runner up, Hay List appeared for a stride or two to have the race won. Love Conquers All then showed great determination to out finish Hay List when the pair more than easily accounted for the remainder of their opposition.
HAY LIST can also be followed from the race with confidence. There are races ahead waiting for Hay List to claim after what could only be described as an excellent performance in defeat at what was the first start after a stable change to trainer John McNair.
